Temporary Closure as we transform our Children’s Space

We are excited to announce that the Children’s Library at Hook Centre is getting a complete makeover! 🪄📚 

To allow us to build a magical new storyland space, the Children’s area will be temporarily closed starting Thursday 13 August, 2026 and the main Library will close after Saturday 15 August, and is scheduled to reopen on 1 September, 2026

What’s Coming?

• 🌳 An Enchanted Woodland Story Area: Featuring a woodland backdrop and stage for storytimes and events.

• 📚 New Display Trees & Book Browsers: Leafy twig displays and easy-access picture book bins for little readers.

• 🎨 Cozy & Colorful Nooks: Modern, comfortable seating including soft armchairs, flower-shaped activity tables, and colorful cushions.

• ♿ Enhanced Accessibility: A brand-new layout designed with wider pathways and clear, accessible spaces for everyone, with flexibility for more activities. 

While We’re Closed:

• Borrowed Books: You can return items to any other Kingston Library branch or via the external drop box.

• Alternative Libraries: Your nearest alternative library branches are Tolworth Community Library and Old Malden Library.

• Digital Library: Borrow e-books, audiobooks, and e-magazines 24/7 

• Connected Kingston: find other local services and activities
